• Automated Stock Trading Tools:Developed software using C++ and Ruby on a 64bit Linux platform to test and execute stock trading strategies that provides significantly greater flexibility and scalability than existing commercial products.
• Utilized existing commercial stock trading software, learning the deficiencies in these products and accordingly developing alternative tools without the deficiencies.
• Ruby was used to automatically generate C++ code from a Ruby coded specification providing run time performance for back testing stock trading stratagies vastly faster and more memory efficent than any known comercial product.
• Unlike similar commercial products, utilizing the large address space of 64bit systems and efficient memory mapping, the developed software does not suffer from practical limitation on the number of issues or backtest time for a stock trading simulation.
• Developed web application to digest millions of hypothetical stock trades stored in a relational database similar to Tableau or like Excel pivot tables but much more scalable (Excel can't efficently handle millions of records).

• GPS Synchronized Trigger Generator: Designed and wrote all C and Verilog HDL code required for a sophisticated GPS synchronized trigger generator and event capture device.
• Utilized a Motorola ColdFire microprocessor running uClinux and a Xilinx FPGA.
• Authored all supporting documentation.
• Participated in the hardware design and repaired many defects in the prototype hardware.

• Microwave Device Modeling: Worked with experts in the field to model a novel high power microwave device utilizing Object Oriented Particle in Cell (OOPIC) simulation software.
• Developed a system running on GNU/Linux to optimize device performance by utilizing existing company computers to run thousands of individual OOPIC simulations.
• Developed C++ code with Python language bindings to generate three dimensional meshes to be modeled with XFDTD.

Accomplishments:

• Delivered features in the GPS Synchronized Trigger Generator that exceeded the specification and proved valuable for the devices initial application in addition to expanding the range of applications the device could be used for.
• Results from Microwave device modeling project contributed substantially to winning a $500,000 dollar phase-two contract to further develop the device.

Selected Projects:

• Linux File Tacker: Created a prototype system for tracking the source of files on a Linux system utilizing a kernel virtual file system in conjunction with a user mode daemon to store and retrieve the data.
• Developed functionality that allowed individual methods, invoked in response to file operations, to be assigned to every file and directory.
• Flexible design allowed a wide range of applications beyond the original purpose.

• New Mexico Array Project: Key member of a team that proposed a time standard for use in the New Mexico Array (a project of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory).
• Designed the printed circuit board for the fiber optic laser current and temperature controller used at the Extended VLA.

• Wireless Data Transmission: Developed a system and protocol used to transmit data over a wireless link between a microcontroller and computer.
• Utilizing a Motorola HC12 microcontroller, the system transmitted only changes in a well-defined data set, and could systematically drop data if necessary.
• Written in C++, the system provided robust error correction, and data was displayed on a computer by an application written using Qt.
